Digital Identity Verification - Right to Work in the UK

What is a Digital Identity Verification - Right to Work in the UK Check?

A digital identity verification check is a modern process that utilises advanced technology to confirm an individual's identity online. This method replaces traditional, in person document inspections, offering a more efficient, secure, and user-friendly approach. By verifying identification documents through digital means, it ensures compliance with regulatory standards, without bias.

For employers, a digital identity verification check is particularly crucial for Right to Work checks. It allows employers to verify that potential employees have the legal right to work in the UK, ensuring compliance with immigration laws and regulations. This process ensures that candidates are who they claim to be and that their documents are legitimate, facilitating a quick, secure, and compliant hiring process. Additionally, completing a digital Right to Work check provides employers with a statutory excuse, meaning they are protected from penalties if it is later discovered that the employee did not have the right to work in the UK. This legal protection is crucial for mitigating risk and ensuring that employers fulfil their legal obligations.

How it Works

Results

An Approved result means the candidate can be considered verified

A Review result means the candidate cannot be considered verified because there are not enough matches found to meet our standard criteria of confirmation for that jurisdiction. Depending on the matches found and your risk appetite you might decide to trigger another check (e.g. an Identity Document check) or ignore it, and treat the user as verified.

A Declined Result means the candidate has failed the check (i.e. they cannot be considered verified). This is more clear cut than Review, where there may be mitigating circumstances.

The check also has detailed results for each of the check details:
